Welcome to Participationline

This site is the result of a research project aimed at understanding the impact of digital technologies on civic engagement and the extent to which social websites can enhance political participation. the aim of the site is to start producing sociological essays from 2012. Meanwhile, visitors are invited to explore different explorative exercise on how digital channels could foster democracy.

How can digital innovation be used to enhance public debates and democratic culture? What are the best practices to promote civic engagement? Who is participating in public discussions and how these issues are being represented in the digital media?

The above questions are starting points for possible discussions. A quick description of Participationline visitors reveals that majority of visitors are British. Although the site is written in English, people form Argentina and other non-English speaking are also regularly visiting the site. The presence of Argentine visitors can be associated with personal and professional connections existing between the site founder and Argentina.  

The number of visits regular number of visit has grown in the last since SEO techniques were applied.

 A geographical reprentation clearly shows that most of visitors are form UK. The site has been also relatively present in other countries where topics related to the country were aborded (USA and Argentina). More work need to be done to engage with people living in Mexico. The next goal of the site is to participate more in debates of Mexican websites.
